Mythe Barn Wedding Photos – Charley and Paul

I love hearing how my couples come about booking me. In 2017 I shot the wedding of Maddy and Ste. Maddy is also a florist and the company she worked for were doing Charley and Paul’s flowers for their wedding and that is how they came across me!

Charley got ready in Mythe Barn’s amazing bridal prep room and Paul got ready in the Groom’s room downstairs. After reading the most beautiful letter from Paul, it was time for Charley to put her dress on and go and get her Man!

After a very emotional ceremony, guests enjoyed a drinks reception, canapés by Galloping Gourmet, live music and a yummy sweet table.

One of the best parts of the day for me is always the couple portraits. A time where my couple get to see each other properly after the ceremony, away from everyone. Charley and Paul are so lovely together, you can’t help but enjoy their company.

It was an absolute pleasure to capture the wedding of this gorgeous pair. I hope you enjoy this snippet of their day.

Mythe Barn Rustic Wedding – Lorna and David

Birmingham Wedding Photographer

Lorna and David booked me to capture their wedding at the start of 2018. Before you knew it, the wedding day was here, with Lorna getting ready in Mythe Barn’s stunning bridal suite and David arriving suited in his beloved Mini!

Mum was busy putting the final touches to the wonderful cake she had made when Lorna couldn’t resist popping down to where all the action was, to see if the plans she had in her head for so long, were coming to life perfectly.

Before you knew it, it was time! I made my way down to David to wait for Lorna to join him. By this point, I think David had been made to wait long enough and as you can see, couldn’t wait to see his Bride! The ceremony was beautiful, with a few laughs thrown in when Lorna nearly got her words wrong.

We couldn’t have asked for better weather and everyone was outside enjoying the drinks and canapes provided by the wonderful Galloping Gourmet. The reception room was perfect, with gorgeous rustic and pastel touches all over, even greeting guests outside when they arrived.

Lorna and David, you really did have the most beautiful wedding and thank you for asking me to capture it.

A beautiful Mythe Barn Wedding – Chloe and Luke

It is quite common for me to get booked to capture a wedding without the couple meeting me first. I always find this to be a huge compliment, as they are basing their huge decision on how much they love what they see. Chloe and Luke did this and a few weeks before their wedding, we met for a drink. It was during this meet up that I found out how much Luke didn’t like having his picture taken and I mean reeeeally didn’t like having his picture taken!

Thankfully, after we had chatted about the day, Luke said he felt a lot more relaxed about it, looking forward to it even!

The day was amazing, not just because it was so beautiful and full of laughter but because Chloe and Luke are wonderful people to be around. It felt so relaxed and fun and when we went to capture their couple portraits, Luke even asked to have more!!

I have so many couples feel like this about having their picture taken and to hear it’s a part of the day they are dreading saddens me, as it really can be one of the best parts. I wanted to share with you part of an email I received off Chloe when they had received their photos;

“We just want to say a massive thank you!! We are so glad we picked you as the photographer you made it even more special. The photos are absolutely beautiful! We are so happy with them! Luke says he is surprised how much he loves the photos considering he doesn’t like having his picture taken!”

Thank you Chloe and Luke for choosing me to capture your day. I had the most wonderful time and wish we could do it all over again and any friends of yours that can hit the dance floor with a cuppa in hand are also friends of mine!

A Mythe Barn Wedding – Ruth and Luke

Mythe Barn Wedding

I always love shooting wedding photography at Mythe Barn and I always love working with couples like Ruth and Luke.  On the day I arrived early and took some shots of Mythe Barn all dressed and ready for Ruth and Luke’s day.  Ruth was getting ready in one Mythe Barn’s beautiful suites and had her attentive bridesmaids on hand to help her with any last minute details – like pouring glasses of bubbly!

Ruth looked stunning in her figure hugging lace detail bridal dress that had a gorgeous low back and gave her a perfect silhouette in all of my portrait shots.  Her long hair was beautifully arranged by Jennifer Brown and makeup was done by Nicola Honey both of whom are from Zara Willetts.  Ruth looked beautiful.

The ceremony was held in Mythe Barn’s stunning Oak Barn.  (The Oak Barn is just one of the reasons I love shooting at Mythe Barn) Its solid oak frame reaching up two storeys is flooded with natural light through full height windows and skylights.  The ‘Highly Strung’ string quartet played throughout the ceremony and drinks reception.

Luke and his grooms’ party looked resplendent in 3-piece petrol blue suits.  After the ceremony there was a drinks and canapes reception in Mythe Barn’s pretty courtyard and with everybody mingling I took my chance to grab some gorgeous portrait shots of Ruth and Luke around the stunning grounds of Mythe Barn.

We then re-joined everybody for the wedding reception which was held in the Grain Store which is a contemporary barn with stunning floor to ceiling windows that open up onto the garden and picturesque views beyond.

The elegant décor with ornate chandeliers, stylish wall lights and ceiling drapes was further enhanced by the beautiful way Ruth and Luke had dressed the room.  I especially liked the table runners of natural white and foliage flowers which were the clever creation of florist Emily Robbins.

Catering on the day was provided by Galloping Gourmet and, like the speeches, was very well received by everyone.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a very elegant and understated wedding cake before Ruth and Luke hit the dancefloor for a romantic first dance.  Wedding band ‘The Young Ones’ provided live entertainment for the wedding party with their fantastic blend of rock, pop, funk, Motown and soul.  They really are a fantastic band, take a look at them on YouTube.

Ruth and Luke’s wedding was a delight to shoot from beginning to end.  Congratulations to both of you for getting married and creating such an amazing wedding day.  I hope my images will allow you to relive it again and again for many years to come.

Wedding Photography at Birtsmorton Court – Nicola and David

I loved shooting Nicola and David’s gorgeous wedding. Birtsmorton Court is a Grade I listed fortified medieval moated manor house set in ancient woodlands near Malvern in Worcestershire. It boasts itself as ‘the most picturesque wedding venue in the West Midlands’ and I have to say I agree. It’s a real favourite with Birmingham wedding photographers.

Nicola and her bridal party arrived early at Birtsmorton Court and took advantage of Birtsmorton Courts lovely onsite accommodation to get ready in on the day. Nicola looked amazing in her Eddy K dress that she bought from Mi Amor bridal.

Hair on the day was done by Becky from Blow with makeup provided by Nicola’s kind friend. The overall effect was beautifully natural and understated glamour. Nicola looked every inch the bride.

I loved the colour scheme on the day of lilac and white which was evident in the flower arrangements, Nicola’s bouquet and the beautiful way the reception room was dressed. I loved the flower arrangements especially as they looked natural and not ‘overdone’ which was perfect for Nicola and David’s wedding.

After a lovely ceremony everybody headed outside for a drinks and canapes reception in the pretty courtyard garden overlooking the moat. With Nicola and David’s guest happily nibbling and mingling, I took my chance to quickly whisk them away for some lovely portrait shots set around the grounds of Birtsmorton Court. They amongst my favourites of the day. Take a look!

The wedding reception followed with a sumptuous wedding breakfast provided by those clever people at Dine with Style, all washed down with drinks and some very well received speeches.

The evening’s celebrations got off to a fun start with sparklers in the marquee garden, followed by the cutting of the prettiest wedding cake and then a romantic first dance. Live musical accompaniment from Lee Evans at Acoustic Flavours quickly saw that guests both young and less young joined Nicola and David on the dancefloor for some serious cutting of shapes!

A beautiful laid back and fun family wedding at a breathtakingly beautiful venue. What more could a wedding photographer ask for? Congratulations to Nicola and David for getting married and thank you for allowing me to tell the story of your wonderful wedding day.

Warwick House wedding venue – Joely and Seb

Warwick House Wedding Venue

I get to work at the best wedding venues in the area and this is certainly the case when I return to shoot at Warwick House.  Joely and Seb chose the perfect venue for their gorgeous winter wedding.

On the day I arrived early so I could get some shots of everybody getting ready for the day. Joely was in good spirits with her mum and bridal party on hand for support.  Hair was done by Michelle and Gemma from Hair Teknique and Makeup was by Stacy Paxton-Rhodes. I loved Joely’s Eddy K dress that she bought from The Cotswold Bridal Boutique.  It was so romantic and with the shrug, had a look of old school Hollywood glamour about it.  Complimented with the hair and makeup Joely looked simply amazing.

I also had a chance to catch up with Seb who was looking very handsome in his Paul Richard and was going through his speech one last time!

The ceremony was held in Warwick House’s beautiful Banqueting Hall with its chandeliers silk-lined ceiling and pretty arch windows that allow natural light to flood in (us Birmingham wedding photographers are utterly obsessed with natural light by the way!)

After a beautiful ceremony everybody enjoyed a drinks reception and I took the chance to whisk Joely and Seb outside for a few portrait shots of them around the pretty landscaped terrace and gardens of Warwick House.  The weather was surprisingly mild for Winter!

The Banqueting Hall was dressed exquisitely for Joely and Seb’s reception. With crisp white linen dressing on the chairs and tables and dramatic candelabras adorned with white feathers, it looked spectacular!  Joely and Seb were welcomed in to the reception by their guests with a fantastic confetti moment (I love a confetti shot!)

After some very well received food, drinks and speeches the sun set and I got a chance to take some fantastic moonlit shots of Joely and Seb.  They are amongst my favourite images of the day.  Take a look!

Evening entertainment got off to a playful start with Joely and Seb’s guests providing a sparkler procession to welcome them back in.  It was such a fun way to start the evening celebrations.

Now I have to mention the cake.  It was gorgeous and original and along with all the flowers on the day was the clever creation of Angela Veronica from The Little Pink Wedding Shop.

Evening entertainment was provided by live band ‘The Salvation’ who accompanied Joely and Seb for their romantic first dance and who went on to keep them and everybody else on the dancefloor for hours.  They are a fantastic wedding band (check them out on YouTube).

Seeing Joely and Seb partying with their loved ones all around them seemed like a fitting image to close the story of their lovely wedding day.  Congratulations to Joely and Seb for getting married and creating such a wonderful wedding day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.

An amazing Bordesley Park Wedding – Hannah and Mike

You know when you meet someone and you just click? This is what happened when I met Hannah and Mike at Bordesley Park Wedding Venue. Probably because Hannah is as loopy as me!! As soon as we met one another, we clicked. Although Hannah did promise me matching wellies on the wedding day and didn’t deliver ;).

Hannah’s prediction for wellies turned out to be true, with it raining constantly throughout the day. Even with the rain, it didn’t dampen the day or the laughter, as that remained a constant throughout the wedding.

We were lucky enough to get a ten minute break with the weather before the wedding breakfast, where we used that to take their beautiful couple shots. Just look at those smiles! It’s always amazing to be back at Bordesley Park with Charlie and the team, Bella Lily Flowers and Rustic Roast Kitchen!!

Hannah and Mike, not only do I want to say thank you for asking me to capture your day but I also want to say thank you for coming into my life. You are the very meaning of happiness!

A Mythe Barn wedding with Chinese traditions – Tina and Aaron

Mythe Barn Wedding Photography

I always love returning to shoot weddings at Mythe Barn Wedding Venue.  Tina and Aaron chose the perfect venue for their late summer wedding. But I’m getting ahead of myself, let’s start at the beginning of Tina and Aaron’s beautiful wedding day.

It was an early start as the family held a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at the family home. The family and bride and grooms party were in traditional Chinese dress and there were games played in the street outside the family house.  It was so much fun and a real treat for the neighbours!

After the games everybody went inside for a traditional Chinese tea.  It is a Chinese custom to serve tea to parents at your wedding to show respect and gratitude for all the years of love and care.  It was lovely and added something fun, unique and personal to Tina and Aaron’s wedding day.

After the tea ceremony the wedding party headed to Mythe Barn to get ready and I took the chance to take some lovely shots of Tina as she made her final preparations.  She looked amazing in a flattering lace detail dress with a veil.   Hair and makeup were perfect and were cleverly done by Tina’s sister Tham.

It’s always nice to work with other professionals in the wedding industry and this was the case working alongside Raw Vision London who were making a wedding film of the day.

Once everybody was ready there was a beautiful wedding ceremony in the Oak Barn.  Imagine a solid oak framed barn reaching up two storeys high with light flooding in through breathtaking full height windows and skylights.

After a beautiful ceremony Tina, Aaron and their guests all enjoyed a drinks and canapés reception with live musical accompaniment in the elegant Cart Barn (love the stone floors and hops hanging from the oak beams above).

After some formal and less formal group shots and a gorgeous confetti moment I quickly whisked Tina and Aaron away for some romantic portraits shots set around the grounds of Mythe Barn.  Another thing I love about shooting Mythe Barn wedding photography is that it has the prettiest gardens and grounds set in acres of Leicestershire countryside that made the most idyllic backdrop when photographing Tina and Aaron.

The wedding reception was held in the stunning Grain Store, a contemporary barn with stunning floor to ceiling windows that opens up onto the garden and picturesque views beyond. The chandeliers, stylish wall lights and ceiling drapes give the barn a really luxurious feel.

Now I love the little details at weddings as they always tell me something of my couples’ personalities.  At Tina and Aaron’s it was the tables named after places the pair had travelled to and accompanied by a photograph of them there!  It was a lovely touch for this well-travelled couple!

Evening entertainment was DJ’d by the very experienced team at Wedding Sounds and started with the cutting of a beautiful wedding cake.  As always the youngest guests were the first to hit the dancefloor but it was Tina and Aaron’s romantic first dance that really kick started the party.  Before long the dancefloor was busy with Tina and Aaron’s guests cutting some impressive shapes!  The image of Tina and Aaron partying with all of their loved ones around them signaled it was time for me to take my leave.

A gorgeously elegant and fun wedding that seamlessly blended Chinese and British wedding traditions.  Congratulations to Tina and Aaron for getting married and creating a wonderful day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.

I hope my images will allow you to relive it again and again for many years to come.

My favourite from 2018 and a massive THANK YOU!

I didn’t even know where to start with this post. How do you actually pick your favourites from all your weddings throughout 2018? Impossible. What this did allow me to do is reflect on how bloody lucky I was to be a part of them though.

Every picture I have included meant something to me. Whether this is a reminder of the time the suit company sent the wrong size trousers and one of the groomsmen was in a different colour, the nerves showing for some of my brides as the dress goes on, a Mother of a bride seeing how gorgeous she looks in the mirror, the laughs, the tears, the wrong name said during the vows (don’t worry it was the Groom marrying himself apparently), the amazing venues I was able to visit, hearing about how my couples met, the power cuts and everyone pulling together, the first looks, the renewals, the traditions and not so traditional, the eating of confetti during the throw because the smiles are so big and the realisation that you are the lucky person to spend your life with the person opposite you.

I feel truly blessed that you chose me to capture your day. I still pinch myself that this is my job and looking at these 2018 images reminds me of how lucky I am.

So, here is a selection of what my couples and I got up to this past year.

2019, I’m coming for you…..

Mythe Barn wedding photography – Amy and Adam

Shooting summer wedding photography at Mythe Barn is a dream booking for any Birmingham wedding photographer.  Amy and Adam chose the perfect venue for their June wedding. Not only that, I am now so fortunate to call Amy my friend and they have since welcomed their beautiful baby into the world.

On the day I caught up with Amy who along with the rest of her bridal party was having breakfast and getting her hair and makeup done at her sister’s house before they all headed for Mythe Barn to make their final preparations.

When I arrived at Mythe Barn I caught up with Adam and his grooms party and got a couple of shots of them. I then took the chance to get some images of Mythe Barn all dressed and ready for the day.

One of the reasons I love shooting wedding photography at Mythe Barn is that is such a gorgeous venue, it blends new with old so perfectly and has exquisite light which helps me no end when photographing my clients (we Birmingham wedding photographers are real light geeks!)

Amy looked gorgeous in her Heidi Hudson lace detail dress as she walked down the aisle behind the page boys.  (Who all looked very handsome and who performed their duties very diligently!)

After a lovely ceremony held in the stunning oak beamed barn with spectacular views of the Leicestershire countryside Amy, Adam and their guests all spilled outside to enjoy the sunshine and a drinks and canapes reception.  I quickly whisked Amy and Adam off to take some portrait shots of them set around Mythe Barn.

Everybody then went Mythe Barn’s Grain Store Barn for the wedding reception.  This barn is stunning! The ceiling drapes and elegant chandeliers make it such a luxurious setting and the ceiling to floor windows open out onto Mythe Barn’s beautiful gardens.    Tables and chairs were exquisitely dressed with flowers done by local florist ‘The Florist Gate’.

Before the wedding breakfast everybody enjoyed some very well received speeches before tucking into a delicious meal.  After the meal I thought I’d make the best of the late afternoon sunshine and took Amy and Adam outside to the surrounding farmers’ fields to get some romantic portrait shots of the two of them with the beautiful Leicestershire countryside as a backdrop.  Take a look, they are amongst my favourite images of the day.

The evening celebrations saw Amy, Adam and their guests back in the Oak Barn where the clever people from Dance Floor DJ and Events had everything ready for a party!  After the cutting of the cake the evening started with Amy and Adam’s romantic first dance and the image of Amy and Adam dancing with all of their loves ones around them seemed an appropriate image to close the story of their lovely wedding day.

Mythe Barn wedding photography is always such a pleasure to shoot and Amy and Adam were such a pleasure to work with.  Congratulations to you both for getting married and creating such a wonderful day to remember.  I hope my images will help you relive it again and again for many years to come.
