These are the best kind of stories for me. I met David and Farran at a wedding I was capturing, as they were guests of Sarah and Hayley. They are getting married at Homme House in Herefordshire in June and I was lucky enough to be asked by them to capture their special day.
I couldn’t believe how beautiful Homme House was and how lucky we were with the weather! We walked around the beautiful grounds, talking about their wedding day, picturing how the day is going to be and it made me really excited to be able to witness David and Farran becoming Husband and Husband.
It has since come to light that they also know another couple who’s wedding I captured seven years ago, Denver and Gina!!! Very small world and I can’t wait for June to come around.
Little did I know, when meeting Emma and Tony, the deal breaker for them booking me would be my love of X-Men! Well, comic book films in general really.
I’ve been chatting to these guys for 18 months now and every time Emma messages me with their latest plans, I get more and more excited. Trust me when I say, their day in September is going to be one not to be missed. Their invite to me was a Charlie and the Chocolate factory style Willy Wonker bar with Golden ticket!!
There will be a flood of sneak peeks from this wedding but in the mean time, how about their pre wedding shoot? From the very beginning, it was going to take place in Tony and Emma’s back garden. It holds a lot of memories as this house used to be Tony’s Mums and Tony used to help his Mum in the Garden!
This shoot location didn’t just mean something to them but it meant a lot to me too now!
You know when you hear someone’s plans and they are describing everything that makes you excited? Meet Stevie and Ant, they are that couple. They get married this year and I’m so excited to share their images with you before they’ve even been captured.
I was down in Kent for the weekend shooting an amazing wedding, when Stevie suggested meeting up on the Sunday, whilst I was there. An engagement shoot was the best plan and Stevie mentioned Leeds Castle. I was sold.
Samantha and Jonathan are one of the amazing couples I was fortunate enough to meet at a Mythe Barn open day. When an email landed in my inbox from them, I was over the moon, plus I got to see them again over coffee to discuss their plans.
When Sam asked me about an engagement shoot and suggested Cannock Chase for the location, I got a liiiittle bit excited. Who wouldn’t when the Gruffalo trail is also there 😉
As I stepped out of the car, the heavens opened and it was a good excuse for us to grab a drink in the café there and talk over plans, whilst we waited for the rain to stop.
Cannock Chase did not disappoint and capturing Sam and Jonathan laughing together was a dream. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was there, a dream setting perfect for capturing dream photographs.
I will definitely be heading back with the family! …Read more
One thing I am very blessed with is referrals from other couples and this is how Holly and Ben found me. One thing which is very common amongst my couples, is feeling nervous in front of the camera so opting for a pre-wedding shoot is a good idea.
For Holly and Ben’s, we travelled to a favourite spot of theirs and somewhere I had never been before, May Hill in Gloucestershire. After crawling enjoying the walk to the top, I had the pleasure of experiencing why it was their favourite.
The views were amazing! Definitely a place you could visit just to be able to get away. …Read more
Jennie and Matt are getting married next month but just like many of my couples, they were a bit nervous about having their photo taken.
I HATE having my picture taken, so can completely relate to these feelings and this also helps me put my couples at ease I would hope.
After thinking for a while about where we could go for the shoot, The Hundred House in Telford was mentioned. I had never been there before but had heard about the wonderful gardens they had there and it didn’t disappoint.
If you want somewhere to go with your family for a drink, the pub itself is lovely and quirky. I also saw they held weddings there! Seriously check it out but in the mean time, here is a taster to their gardens. …Read more
The email I received off Ashley and Natasha was asking if I had the date free. I did and their reply was “the ceremony is in France”. This is how chilled out they were and continued to be throughout their planning and the wedding.
I’ll be blogging their wedding very soon but here is a little look at some pictures from their pre wedding shoot we decided to do at the Chateau La Durantie, the day before the ceremony.
This was meant to be an easy post, after all, all I had to do was pick some of my favourite photos I had captured in 2013 and put them in a blog post.
So why did I end up getting quite emotional? 12 months isn’t a long time but the amount of things I have done in this time has been vast. Not only that, things are easily forgotten about, especially when life is so busy.
Each of my weddings holds memories, more than just memories of the day but what I was also doing in my own life and this post has reminded me of the wonderful year I have had and how very grateful I am to all the couples and people in this post for that and letting me share your amazing days.
It has also brought back memories of past years. I’ve been reminded of some of the first ever couples to book me to capture their weddings, who had faith in me, as some of the Ladies in these pictures were their bridesmaids. It was their turn to now be the bride and continue to have faith in me to capture their special days too.
I just want to say thank you to you all. Thank you for trusting me to capture one of the most important days in your life. Thank you for allowing me to do something I absolutely love as a career and thank you for all being a part of my 2013 and becoming my friends. Thank you just doesn’t seem enough…… …Read more
I don’t know quite where to begin with this post so I think at the start would be best. A few weeks ago I attended a Beloved seminar with the very talented and lovely Marianne Taylor. I didn’t know what to expect but I went with the hope that I would walk away with a different way of interacting with my couples at such a special time in their lives, which would help me capture very natural images.
I’m not saying the way I captured memories before wasn’t to my liking but what I was hearing more and more was that people didn’t like their picture being taken, so I believed there must be nothing worse than being aware of the camera.
What Beloved and Marianne taught me was to help the couples interact with one another, talk to one another and I would capture very natural moments. Instead of me chatting away, I asked my wonderful couple Fabiana and Chris to tell me how they found the experience. The email that followed made my heart flip…. …Read more
About a week ago I held a competition to give away an engagement shoot. I have had so many amazing entries that in the end, the names went into a hat and a name was drawn. The winner is….
Huge congratulations Laura. I loved the idea of having an engagement shoot at a funfair. Let me know when a fair comes to town :).
