Where do I start with this couple? Jen and Matt were my first ever engagement shoot couple and Jen and I instantly became inseparable. When I say inseparable I mean we had contact somehow most days.
The reason my relationship with Jen is so special is because she believed in me, gave me a chance, supported me through the first year of my business with her encouraging words, booked me to shoot one of the most important days of her life before knowing if I could do it and is my biggest fan! Seriously! If I blog/post something, Jen will be there with her positive words. To top it off, when I went into Photography full time she bought me a Swarovski pen (people that know me know I like sparkly things)!
Fast forward to the 16th May 2011, Jen and Matt are getting married at the National Trust, Baddesley Clinton, Warwickshire. I drove to Solihull and as soon as I walked into Jens house I was treated as part of the family. Jen’s Dad and Brother fired up the BBQ outside and it was bacon or sausage sandwiches all round. My assistant Katie came with me and we agreed on the terms of the food coming our way. I have bacon, Katie has sausage and then we swap half of one with each other (until Katie started munching on my half before swapping).
Jen looked calm which took me by surprise and then a gorgeous bunch of flowers arrived with a card from Matt. That’s when Jen’s tears started while I’m warning Katie to back away from the card. That’s the last thing I needed was a blubbering assistant and she’s a big softy. The next thing we know, Matt is driving past in his beloved Mini and beeping the horn. We all know what that means, the wedding is nearly upon us.
I could talk about this all day but I will just post the pictures now and hope that tells the story of how the day went. In a word though, PERFECTLY!!
And especially for Jen
………

ooo la la mrs!! These are just gorgeous! The details from the day are just magical, the locket on the flowers is beyond words and you’ve captured it all so so beautifully. I am very proud of you, stunning images hun

Well it would be rude not to comment on my very own post, after many other comments on others.
Where on earth do I start……. I guess at the very beginning!
From the very start if your photography career, there was a star in the making, and a very special one at that. From the few photos you started out with, to where you are now; The quality of your work never ceases to amaze me.
I don’t think there was ever a question in my mind when we did that engagement shoot back in June 2010 that I would book you to become my wedding photographer, after all you taught me the art of bartering!
From then, I knew we would be friends and in contact with one another rather frequently. And we proved it right too:D And even dishing out all the free advise and becoming your personal PA (to which I add, I do for free and for the goodness of bribery of rocky road mainly from you Nicola), I loved watching you grow with every photo opportunity.
To have you there on my wedding day capturing every moment was a dream. I knew with you being around, and making me feel at ease, we’d laugh and joke together, even when dropping my dress out the tree, there is no one else I would have wanted there other than you. In a way, sometimes I wish you hadn’t of been my photographer and relaxed at my wedding day as a guest but to do that to you, you’ve had killed me. You waited for this day for so long, nearly just as much I did.
Everyone commented to me on the day, just how good you are with your work. You don’t get in the way, you stand away from the crowds capturing every single detail with precision, and how you just keep on going all day with that camera in hand.
Two weeks away in Florida, and returning home to a ‘Do you want your photos tomorrow’ – Man you work quickly. Mr Postman however, does not! Keeping me waiting until 10am. (I did not pee on him either! Haha
) I opened up that parcel, to the most gorgeous presentation box, which again took me forever to get into. I put the disk in the computer, sitting there with the biggest smile, jumping up and down on my bum on the sofa, squealing with excitement about the wonderful work I was about to see. And you didn’t let me down one bit!!
Those photos bring tears to my eyes every time I flick through them. They are amazing in every way possible, you brought mine and Matt’s wedding day to life again through you work and for that I will never forget.
Your an amazing person Nicola and I Thank You so very very much for the wonderful photos you have captured for us. My photos will remain with me forever, and I hope this lasts in our friendship too. Your a star in the making and I love you to bits.
Lots of Love from one very happy newlyweds.
