Vintage Styled Photo Shoot

A few weeks ago I attended a photo shoot get together arranged by the lovely Theresa. With the location being Malvern and that only being down the road from me, it was too good to turn down. Coupled with the fact that Theresa had worked very hard to get the best models and suppliers to provide the perfect shooting material!

This turned into a bit of a road trip with a good friend of mine, Ali Lovegrove, after saying she was also going and would I like to travel with her. You will understand why I like being around Ali when I tell you that her first words to me when I got in the car were “where’s the nearest McDonald’s?”

When we got there we headed for the nearest coffee shop to meet up with other Photographers joining in on the day. Everyone was so friendly and lovely and it’s a great way of everyone asking each other questions and making new friends in the industry. Even though it started raining we were all in good spirits and headed across the road to start the shoot.

Here are a few photos from my day….

Jen and Matt get married.

Where do I start with this couple? Jen and Matt were my first ever engagement shoot couple and Jen and I instantly became inseparable. When I say inseparable I mean we had contact somehow most days.

The reason my relationship with Jen is so special is because she believed in me, gave me a chance, supported me through the first year of my business with her encouraging words, booked me to shoot one of the most important days of her life before knowing if I could do it and is my biggest fan! Seriously! If I blog/post something, Jen will be there with her positive words. To top it off, when I went into Photography full time she bought me a Swarovski pen (people that know me know I like sparkly things)!

Fast forward to the 16th May 2011, Jen and Matt are getting married at the National Trust, Baddesley Clinton, Warwickshire. I drove to Solihull and as soon as I walked into Jens house I was treated as part of the family. Jen’s Dad and Brother fired up the BBQ outside and it was bacon or sausage sandwiches all round. My assistant Katie came with me and we agreed on the terms of the food coming our way. I have bacon, Katie has sausage and then we swap half of one with each other (until Katie started munching on my half before swapping).

Jen looked calm which took me by surprise and then a gorgeous bunch of flowers arrived with a card from Matt. That’s when Jen’s tears started while I’m warning Katie to back away from the card. That’s the last thing I needed was a blubbering assistant and she’s a big softy. The next thing we know, Matt is driving past in his beloved Mini and beeping the horn. We all know what that means, the wedding is nearly upon us.

I could talk about this all day but I will just post the pictures now and hope that tells the story of how the day went. In a word though, PERFECTLY!!

And especially for Jen ;) ………

Sneak Peek – Jen and Matt got married!!

When I was first trying to build my Photography career I offered a free shoot to a couple that would allow me to use the images. Jen was about at the right time and said “i’m not getting married yet but you can do an engagement shoot if you want”. Hell yea I responded and then the best friendship developed. This went on to Jen and Matt booking me to shoot their wedding the following year.

That year flew by and I will tell you more tomorrow. In the mean time here is a sneak peek of my ‘friends’ wedding!
